Kenmore model 596.73503201 stopped cooling, could hear the compressor relay clicking.I checked continuity of the compressor windings and windings to the case, everything appeared O.K. so I first replaced the overload. The compressor ran, temp went down to setting but would not re-start. I purchased from AP #WLP67005560 overload/capacitor, as sugested, through the parts department. I was going to order AP4074064 being I allready replaced the overload but took their sugestion. I installed the new start kit and same thing happened. Once temp was reached the compressor would not re-start. Any help will be appreicated.
Thanks, Grandpoo

If you u have a amp clamp, put it around 1 of the wires going to the compressor, should be pulling about 1 to 1.5 amps if more u have a bad compressor. You can also chk to see what wattage it is pulling if you have a wattage meter to plug in the wall, should be about 150 watts.

You have a hard starting compressor, due to varnish buildup, or damaged windings. Either that or ingestion of non-compressables. Once it is running for a period, check the freezer temperature,if not well below 10 degrees( it may never get there) that would confirm refrigerant contamination. Usually, if the compressor get very hot, that would confirm it also.
