Both old and new start devices are shown as a small, black plastic ptcr device with standard 1/4 inch spade terminals, are your fridg wires wired with 3/16 spade terminals?

You will need to sort things out here. It would help if you have a meter. The top pin of the compressor is the common pin, the bottom left, usually the start, and bottom right run pin. The top pin gets the overload klixon, a thin, white item. If you don't have it you will need to order it AP206490. Next, plug in the start device in the bottom pins. Locate the refrigerator wires and put one in the klixon terminal, the other one in the right start device terminal. Next, you will need to plug in the run capacitor wires in both the left and right start device terminals (effectively between the run and start pins). Then plug it in. If the run capacitor had no wires, you will need to add these. Hope this is clear enough.

If the spade terminal is too small, just go to Radio Shack and get a bigger one.

Yes, just get a bigger spade terminal and strip the wire and crimp it on the wire.
