I have a hotpoint washing machine model number hnxr1060taww. I know the water pump is clogged because it has happened before, My daughter tried to wash her blanket (even though she knows not to wash comforters in our washer.. we take them to the laundromat) and of course it came apart. Now the washer is not draining. A friend of our is an appliance repairman, but we don't get paid for 2 weeks and can't go that long without washing our clothes. My husband is a jack of all trades, and h will know how to take it off, unclog it and put it back on. We just cannot figure out how to get the panels off this thing... Please help.

I cannot get your model number to come up, but assuming this is a basic GE made machine, you can take off the front by inserting a screw driver in the gap between the top and the front near the edges to release clips that hold the front on. (bend down and look at the gap and you can see where the clips are).

This will give you access to the pump.

If this does not work or your model is not like this, check the model number and post it and lets see what you have.

We have kids and make them do their own wash, not sure it is worth it though.

Well good, you've done the hard part. The pump is right there on the right, it is an electric pump and it comes out pretty easily, but don't tell him that, see how hard he has to struggle.
