The electric heating element is broken (ap2586090) in my dryer. Are there any other parts I should order to have on hand when I re-string the element?

That should be fine. Just make sure you do not stretch out the element and that it is not touching anything after you are finished. Be careful, go slow and you should be all set.
You may want to change out the rear bearing and belt while you have it open. Also clean out all the lint, including the line in the exhause piping.
