The trim on my bottom door has eroded, leaving it cracked and peeling. I can order the part from Maytag (#12002358), but I have a question on "how to" for the replacement.
After taking the door off, I can remove the screws, but this trim piece looks like it's welded to the two side pieces. This trim piece appears to be completely flat. The welding is on the 2 sides pieces. After the 2 side pieces come down the door sides, they make a short 90 degree bend to the center, holding this bottom piece. There are 2 deep holes on each side piece. I can drill each hole, which might release the bottom flat trim. If the flat bottom trim is not released after drilling the 4 holes, then what? How do I separate the bottom from the sides?
For replacement, will I need additional screws to replace the welding?
Thank you in advance.
