First thing we noticed was the clothes were coming out really wet. Pretty much as if you just put them in a tub of water and took them out.
So tonight I put the washer on final spin and it was spinning really fast but making really loud banging and squeaking sounds.
Is this something that is worth calling for service or should I just get a new washer. It came with our house which we had for 3 years. It looked fairly new when we got it so I would say it is like 5 or 6 years old at the most.
Thanks - Also money is tight so if I don't need a new washer I am hoping this one can be fixed for under $200

One other note. In the past you could open the door and spin the inside by hand fairly easy but now it is really hard to spin.

If you post a model# it would help, Is it a top loader? or Front loader??? Check around the top of the tub to see if anything is stuck between the tubs!!!

I will BET that the tub spider is broken, Its the part of the tub that has the axle that the tub rotates on. They have a corroision problem and fail after 6-10 yrs. The GOOD news is: The tub has a 25 yr warrantee (if you have a dealer repair it) Check with your local FRIGIDAIRE DEALER!!!:D

So I had someone come out and take a look at my washer. He said a bearing had to be replaced. Said to fix it he would have to take the entire washer apart and it would be really labor intensive. Quoted me $750 plus and told me go out and buy a Whrilpool or a Maytag. Does the above diagnosis sound correct or did he just not want to be bothered fixing my machine? Thanks
I think he said it was the rear bearing, if that means anything to anyone.

He is a LAZY S.O.B. and a THIEF!!!!! The wash basket would be free, The outer rear shell(outer tub with brg. and seal included) is AROUND $240. I change the two parts in 1.5 hrs. SO, $500 bucks for a job that takes 1.5 hrs is pretty darn good money in MY book!!!!! Now, with this said, you can replace that washer for $569.00, If you want to replace it with a new FL washer,(and don't want to spend alot of money) Get another one just like the one you have. (You could NOT GIVE ME a wpool-Maytag FL washer rite now) With this washer you have now, were you using He detergent?? 1/2 cap full or less???

The washer came with our house and we had never had any experince with front loaders so we just used regular detergent in it. I am thinking this may have had something to do with our issue. We are looking at getting a top loader for a replacement and saw a Whirlpool for under $400. Thanks for your posts. You have been helpful
Also, the guy said he would have to take the washer into the shop because he could not fix it at my house.

Just make sure you get a Whirlpool direct drive, stay away from the Calypso or Cabriol!
