The washer made some binding noises toward the end of its cycle. My wife ran another load and found the machine at the spin cycle only humming and full of water. I found the motor coupling had sheared and replaced it. When I tried to start the washer at the spin cycle (empty), the tub started to turn then came to a stop with the motor humming.

I can manually spin the tub counterclockwise (looking down from the top) but the brake engages when I try to turn the tub clockwise. Does anyone have a guess as to what I should replace next? Thanks in advance for your time.

Sounds like something has gotten down in the pump maybe a sock, try and get the water out remove the pump and look through one of the hose ports and see if it isn't plugged another thing to do is remove the pump and see if the motor runs without it on if it does the pump is the problem if it doesn't we need to dig deeper

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll remove the pump, have a look, and get back to you.

Sure enough! I found a dish scrubber jammed inside the pump. Thanks again for your help.
