My washing machine will wash but will not drain the water out for the next cycle. The cycle knob makes a little noise like a timer is running. It just started the noise a week ago off and on but not draining was the first time last night. Can anyone tell me what could be wrong with my washer and if its fixable.. Thanks.

It could be something as simple as a lid switch

If you hear something when you push in the lid switch with the spin cycle selected, your lid switch is probably not the problem. Your most likely problems are a bad motor coupling, clutch, or transmission. Try replacing the coupling first, as it the easiest repair and most likely problem. Here is a link to help you replace the coupling. Most local appliance parts stores should have the part in stock. Whirpool Drive-Coupling Replacement

She said it washes so it wouldn't be a coupler if a coupler is bad it wont wash or spin just fills and pumps JMHO

Just to add my 2 cents..
You may want to check the pump for an obstruction. Which would cause it not to drain or spin.
Most o the time a lid switch problem will not agitate either.
