I have a GE washer with a combination drive motor/inverter pc board. Everything works (drain pump, etc) except for the drive motor. The inverter board LED blinks four times repeatedly. I installed a new motor/board assembly and it worked perfectly for the first two loads. Now the new board shows the same failure (four flashes). Does anyone know what this code signifies, and if so, a possible fix? Thanks for any information that is provided.

This is supposed to mean that the mode sifter coil is open (electrically). But that shouldn’t cause the motor to stop working. Usually this will cause the entire tub to rotate during wash rather than just the agitator. Look on the board on top of the motor and you should see a wire going to the sifter (the tube that goes up through the center of the tub). Disconnect that wire and test for continuity between the two wires. If it is open the shifter coil is bad. This page will explain more HydroWave GE Washer Repair Guide

The information you supplied is better than I had hoped for. I'm certain that I can now resolve the problem since my understanding of the codes and my problem in particular has expanded substantially. I'll let you know how it goes, but regardless, thank you so much for the assistance. I'm impressed.
