Front load HE-5 During entire agitation cycle the motor makes a very loud grinding shrill, this noise goes away during the higher speed spin. Seems like it is the motor but not sure if there is a gear box that controls the speeds. This washer is 16 months old. Please help my wife has piles of clothes and we really dont want to call SEARS they are the worst. Thank You.

Remove the rear panel and start a cycle. Locate the noise, is it coming from the motor or the pulley on the back of the tub. If it's coming from the motor, replace the motor. If it's coming from the drum area, be prepared to replace the rear bearing(back half of the tub). Also look for the belt or puley contacting the tub housing. If the sound isn't located at either location, open the door stick your head in and have someone manually turn the pulley. Let us know what you find. Nat
