Fridge won't go below 38, freezer is @ Zero. Closed it and left it for 8 hrs, fridge didn't get colder despite it being set to 34.
Seems to drift between 38 and 40.
From the other posts on this fridge it looks like replacing the main board is the fix for many things. I just want to be sure before laying out the cash.

Pbuck,

You would want to test your fresh food thermistor, for resistance with a multi meter.

Note: To accurately test a thermistor, place the
thermistor in a glass of ice water (approximately
33ーF) for several minutes and check for

approximately 16K Ω.

You would also want to test or check the evaporator fan/motor, make sure it is not running in the low speed mode, constantly,or is intermittently sticking.

Good Luck,
:) :) :)

Thanks for responding Joe. I have no idea what you said or what a thermsitor or multi-meter is but I'll do some more digging to try to figure it out. I'm not an appliance repairman, just an owner of a broken fridge.

It does seem like the evap motor is only running in slow speed, have not heard it change speeds in a few days.

Buck,

Sorry about that,

A thermistor is a "solid state" temperature sensing device,as the temperaure changes so does the resistance in the thermistor.

A multi meter is a tool that measures various degrees of resistance, voltage etc.

Technically, at present your fridge temperature is in the reccomended temp range.

Before we go too far, reset the control to 34 dgrs, and wait 24 hours to see if the temperature drops to arange of 32 to 36 degrees,

We may be going someplace we don't need to be.

Thanks Joe. I reset it to 34 and let it sit for just over 24 hrs. It stays at 37-38 range.
Freezer dipped nelow the 2 degrees where it was set, down to 2 below.
I don't know if that has anythimg to do with anything but it happened so I'm putting it out there.

It's not letting food rot but, we usually set our fridge to 34 and it's always stayed right on the mark.

Buck,

Under the circumstances, you may want to replace the evaporator fan motor

Part number: AP3875639
Part number: AP3875639

After that, if the problem persists, I'm afraid, your variable speed compressor may be stuck in a slow or medium speed.
With the meters and special tools involvec, you may not want to get involved ????
