washer is leaking as soon as it starts filling. I thought that maybe the water hose was leaking from the back but I do not see any sign of this. I poured some water in the basket and it leaked through on to the floor as soon as I put it in. Please give me some suggestions as to what the problem might be before I take the washer apart.

Most likely bad recirculation pump , it is attached to the motor. Lean the unit back and with a light you should see a white component in the very middle of the unit in the front. Look for water trail in the front or from the rear where the drive shaft comes in on the motor.
