I bought a used frig and the icemaker was missing. The seller gave me a used one.I put it in and it wouldn't get water so we took it back to him thinking it didnt work.. he gave us another used one. We checked the waterinlet solenoid with 110v jumper and it wouldn't send water to icemaker so we took the old solenoid from the frig that we were replacing and checked it with 110v jumper and it worked. So we put it on the new frig and it sends water to door but no water to ice maker. I hope this isnt too confusing. Can you help..........

Remove the wire plug from the solenoid for drinking water and connect it to the ice maker solenoid. Push the water lever on the door dispenser for about 10 seconds and check if the ice maker got water.

Post the results.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Hotpoint refrigerator Model CSX27DLJ

I did as you suggested and I got water at the door but none in icemaker. But, We had the cover off the timer on icemaker and we actually saw it start working which it hadn't been doing. The bar came up and it tried to empty ice, so if I can figure out how to get water in there now, I'll be set. Hope you can help. Thanks!

If it tries to release ice cubes without any success then the problem most likely is a bad heater on the bottom of the ice maker. It is not repairable and the ice maker has to be replaced.

It acted like it was emptying ice cubes but it had no water. The icemaker just went thru the motions as if it did. This happened when I pressed the door water. I still have no water going to icecube tray.

If you switched the wire plugs at the water valve solenoids then how did you get water at the door? I'm afraid I missed something.

Hey Gene,
Pls be patient with me, I'm just a woman who cant afford a repair man right now. I may have had the wires on wrong, I really dont know. Tonight I switched the wires again and water started coming out of the door without anybody pressing the switch. I reached up on the icemaker and pushed the "cube adjustment"???, (a spring with a screw)and it made the water stop.I took a screwdriver and screwed it in towards the - sign. I unplugged both sets of wires to try them one at a time. The 1st set I plugged in and tried the door water and no water came out but I could see the water hose jerk at the solenoid. I knew then it was the icemaker wire. I plugged it in the other solenoid and went around to check the door water and it worked. So I plugged the other one in and checked the ice tray and I had water!!! I have switched these wires 50 times I know and it never made a difference, there was never any water in the tray. Maybe its going to work now, I hope so cause I sure dont know what I did to get water in there.I hope I see cubes in the morning!!Thanks so much:) :)

I share your hope. If not then I need the complete model number of the refrigerator and complete description of what was wrong originally.
