I turned the defrost timer around a few times at the beginning of this oddessy and compressor never turned on. No sound from the defrost timer either. Do you mean jumper past the defrost timer to the temp control? Which wire is which? I don't want to cause more damage than already was done, but I think we/re getting closer to the correct diagnosis.
So the rattle in the black and white device and 0.3 ohm reading is okay?
Almost anyone can replace parts. It takes a pro to know which one! Thanks Lee

The rattle in the black/white device is fine .3ohms is good. What I mean by jumper the cold control is this, your cold control has 2 wires connected to it, take those wires off, and connect the 2 wires you just pulled off together with a piece of wire, basically you are removing the cold control from the circuit to determine if that is at fault or not.

abadfish66 YOU DA MAN !!! Jumpered the cold control and BINK compressor fired right up! I bought a new temp. control today and defrost timer as long as I was at the parts joint. Put it in 2 hours ago and it's working just like new. THANKS to abadfish66 and this website for saving me the money that I don't have to call a repairman. I reapaired for less than $99. and that's much less than calling Mr. fixit.
I know it's been awhile but I borrowed a friend's garage beer frig for awhile. He took the beer out before I got it! I'll take it back to him tomorrow. I'm telling everyone about this kick ass site!
THANK YOU A MILLION (after taxes) Lee
