Good evening, just found this forum, what a great resource. I hope to contribute one day.

Have a 2 yr old Frigidaire D/W, FDB1050REQ5, serial TH85073836.

A week ago it started operating improperly.

Machine will go through the cycle, including opening the soap dispenser at the appropriate time.

However, during the wash the motor cycles on and off, 10 seconds on then 20-30 seconds off. It continues cycling on and off.

Checked water fill valve, water appears to be just under door level.
Checked and cleaned all screens and wash arms.
Checked underneath; motor housing and floor appear to be very dry and clean, no signs of water staining.
Checked circuit board, no signs of scorching or burning.

I'm at a loss what to do next. Went to local repair shop today (where I bought it), they want to do a service call ($85) and said they'd try the board ($165).

Thought I'd try on here and see what I could find. Did hours of searching on the net and nothing seems to exactly fit this machine's problem.

Thank you!

Removed the check ball, made sure the ramp was clean, made sure ball was clean, reinstalled.

Unplugged machine (tried to reset it?), no difference.

Can't figure out why is stops, starts, stops, starts, etc.

Would a failing circulation motor or circulation motor relay or circulation motor breaker cause this to happen?

This model uses a single circulation motor to run both the upper and lower spray arms alternatively (using a check ball).

So, pulled the circulation motor tonight, has these markings:
Johnson
DCJ72(4)MLG
120V 60 Hz CL.B
P/N: 154700101
ID No: 1060N6515J83
0.65A 65 Watt 2900 RPM

Motor has two wires feeding it, blue and white.

Knocked out lots of carbon dust. Brushes looked like they have lots of life left.

Sprayed with motor cleaner.

Motor tested at 5,600 ohms between blue and white wiring connectors.

There was a little black box by the motor brushes, it has a little black box 3/8" x 3/4" x 1" or so. Had a few wires going in and out of it.

Put motor back into D/W. Left D/W pulled out from under counter.

D/W acted same as before (during wash and rinse cycles, it goes on and off).

So, put voltage tester into the circulation motor's quick disconnect wiring connector. Voltage read AC 118 - 120 v all of the time, even when the motor would shut off. So, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the computer/timer wasn't shutting the motor off because there was still proper voltage going to the motor wiring harness. If the motor was shutting off, it was the motor (or that little black box by the brushes).

So, I'm back here for help and guidance.

Thank you!

Well, I'm full of questions on this forum.

I found an ******** motor (used) for $34.99 plus shipping.

Arrived last night, installed, dishwasher works great now.
