My Amana top loader, model number nav5805aww,has two noise problems:

1: Makes a squeal noise while washing large loads.

2: Makes a load squeal when spin cycle stops on any size load.

If I let the noises continue is it just an annoyance issue or is my wash machine in need of repair? If so, what kind of repairs are needed? I can live with the noise if it is not going to damage the washer!

Please Help!

It sounds like you have a bad brake assembly. In order to do a proper repair you will need a new brake, stator, and snubber. Also when I change these I change the thrust bearing kit as well. This will fix your problem. If you do not repair this, it will start to slip so bad that the agitation will not work properly. Here are the part numbers you will need as well as a link to the parts diagram. Hope this helps.
