The door mounted soap dispenser cover only pops open part way so the soap pellet doesn't completely dissolve. Will replacing the arm that controls that cover be enough to make it work OK? I looked up the part number but I don't want to go back and get it and lose this message.Thx

Bill,

Back in the day, it was common practice to replace both the lever and the catch along with the spring.

Part number: AP2039128
Part number: AP2039128

Part number: AP2039379
Part number: AP2039379

Part number: AP2038733

I'm pretty sure that will get you where you need to be.

Good Luck,
:) :) :)

I just replaced the timer on my GE dishwasher and this part you have a picture of - AP2039128 just fell out and I thought it was situated under the timer but now cannot figure out where is needs to go. So I get all the screws back in place and close it up only to figure out that the soap dispenser isn't working anymore, b/c it just stays open.
Please help this is driving me crazy.

Did u mean this reply for my question? It doesn't make sense. I would like to find out where this part goes in the dishwasher, I know what soap dispensers are used for.

Flores,

First things first,

Did you move the timer cam plate from the old timer to the new timer ?

(Looks like this)

Part number: AP2039382
Part number: AP2039382

Find it and install it, if you didn't, That cam operates the detergent cup and rinse aid dispenser.

you also have two spring loaded levers. they are mounted on pivot points molded into the palstic door liner, and actuate the lower lever to open the detergent cup and rinse aid dispenser.

Part number: AP2039128
Part number: AP2039128

Part number: AP2039128
Part number: AP2039128

Most people do not remove the levers to change the timer.

You also have to make sure the timer dial is in the off position, or the dispenser will not lock closed/latch.

floresfamily----We just had the same issue. The white timer lever is about 6 inches long....1 end has an obvious place where the spring clips in. That end also has an oval hole that slips under the controller box. You cannot put this vever in place without first removing the controller(2 screws). Without taking a picture, it's kind of intuitive that the oval hole goes on the post that also secures one of the 2 screws mentioned. The spring can only pop over an obvious plastic nipple just begging for a spring. Hope that helps. My friend looked at this for 4 hours and was so flustered that he could hardly dial my number to have me come over and fix it in 1 hour. Guess who has the higher IQ? :)
