The timer on my range has quit and because of the age and type is quite expensive (possibly as much as 40% of the cost of a new range). The range and oven work fine and I'd like to repair the timer. I have some experience in small eletrical systems and know something about "electrical" repair but have no knowledge of what typically goes wrong with this type of unit. Any advice on what to repair or where to find the information and parts ?

We've never tore into one of those clock/timers we usually just replace them. The part number from here (which happens to be one of the cheapest retail parts I've ever found, and believe me I shop around!) is AP3093581, it is about $153, but it that is all that is wrong with the stove.....it's a personal call on replacement.
Not much help I know, the only other place to look is either the recycle center or ebay.
