So my Whirlpool built-in double oven started flashing the error code F2 E6 a few weeks ago. At first I could just press the Timer Off button and it would clear and be fine for a while. Now it will appear fine (go back to clock display), but will turn off after a few minutes of heating, or will just randomly beep and the display will go black and then come up with the error code even when the oven is not in use. From looking at the error codes, it appeared to be the control keypad. Having not initially found this forum, and having no idea how to even begin to fix it myself, I called Legions of Idiots Appliance Repair (or that should be their name). They sent a tech out who had to "phone home" to diagnose the problem, and was basically looking at the same error code print out that I found online. He ordered the keypad (same price as available online, so okay), and we had to wait a week to get it installed. So Larry and Moe showed up today to install the new keypad, and they had to phone home to figure out how to get into the oven to remove the old one. They were here for 30 minutes, and charged me $200. When I attempted to use the oven this afternoon, the display "paused" when I turned it on (meaning it kind of faded out and then faded in ... not a good sign) ... and a few minutes later it beeped, went blank, and gave me the same error code E6 F2. So I called them back, and they're sending out "someone who is better at this" tomorrow. I'm assuming that will be Curly....

The good news is they warrant parts and labor for a year, so I won't have to pay anything more for them to get this right. But from the little bit that I've read on this forum, it sounds like the next logical step will either be the control board ($200-ish), or possibly the transformer ($18-ish). I really just want this thing fixed so that I don' t have to deal with Moe, Larry, or Curly again. So anybody with advice about whether it is the transformer or the control board, as well as instructions on how to do it, I'd appreciate it. When they come back out tomorrow and tell me they think it is the control board, should I tell them to try the transformer first?

Thanks.

Sounds like Larry & Moe didn't get the connector to the keypad installed all the way it's probably loose. According to the tech manual the control board should only have to be replaced if it is part of the keypad, which yours isn't.
But, by your description, I would do the transformer next.
