Gene,

Sorry for the short response last night. This is a great site! I posted my first message in this thread. http://forum.appliancepartspros...-disassembly-method.html

I have a thermador sgcs365rs and have the exact same problem that others have with the solenoid not operating properly. I have read your step by step troubleshooting and pictures that others have placed on here. I understand the system, I just want to make sure I perform the maintenance correctly.

The unit is sealed fairly well with several fasteners on the bottom of the unit. I want to make sure that I understand the proper disassembly of the unit so I don't make a bad problem worse.

What are the proper procedures for "getting at" the potentiometer and parts you reference on your troubleshooting?

Thanks

Bill

Bill,

The instructions are attached to the reply. Apply a reasonable force while unscrewing the venturis. The gas tubes under the top panel can be twisted and easily broken. Any of the venturi which can not be unscrewed has to be cut off using a dremel tool.

I am assuming part number AP2825524 is the correct number for the potentiometer for this unit. Correct? Thermodor sgcs365rs

I will order that today! You have been a great help!

Bill,

Did you see the note in the part description: " If you appliance serial number starts with 9706 or up use part number AP3872616"? Did you check the serial number?

UPDATE!!!!!

Installed the poteniometer today and the cooktop works GREAT! Gene, thanks for your help! The part arrived today as advertised, I followed Gene's instructions, and viola! Operating cooktop.

Thanks again. I will recommend this website and parts ordering to all.

Due to this success, I posted another question about my thermador cook and vent downdraft system located here:

Thanks again!

Bill

I have a PRG364GD with similar issues. The rear XLO burner had issues where the gas would go out and the re-ignitor would come on. The problem gradually got worst and now, I do not hear any gas coming thru the burner at all. Only the re-ignitor making clicking noise but no gas flows thru for the burner to ignite. The front XLO works fine as are the other 2 regular burners. I was looking at the solenoid part #AP2828839 as the culprit that needs to be changed. I have not tested the poteniometer as I have no idea where it is and how to access it. Any help or suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks
