I have a Maytag Neptune MDG4000 gas dryer that takes a very long time to heat. I've cleaned it to the extent of taking apart the whole thing so lint isn't an issue.
The problem is, the igniter goes on and lights the gas. After 5-10 mins, the gas goes off and relights every 2 minutes for about a minute.
I've replaced the cycling thermostat and coils and the dryer continues to do the same thing. Any ideas?

The flame should cycle on and off to maintain a proper temperature. The times you described are pretty normal. Very likely the cause of longer than usual time to dry a load is restricted air flow in the exhaust line. It has to be cleaned all the way through the vent outlet. The vent hose on the back of the dryer should be as short as possible and should not be bend in any way. Gene.

Thanks for the quick reply Gene,
When I cleaned the dryer, I took it apart so far that I could stick my hand through the rear exhaust and wiped it clean. I even vaccumed the "fan" in the front. There is basically no lint in the dryer.
I observed the dryer and the flame lit in the begining when the dryer was cold for about 4-5 mins and went off. Then after every 2 minutes, it relit but only for about 10-15 seconds.
I went as far as removing (Still connected to the wiring though) the cycling thermostat and hi-limit thermostat from it's location and putting it far from the heat. The flame still did the same thing.
If I'm not mistaken, if the thermostats don't get hot, the flame should be lit forever since the thermostats aren't able shut it off.
Do you think I got a defective gas solenoid set? If I set my multimeter to 2k, I get readings of 0.7 to 1.5 between the pins.
I'll check again to see if it's clogged. Not to mention that the rim on the inside by the door is full of moisture and the dryer does not collect any lint on the screen.
