Purchased a new motherboard and installed. Now the evaporator fan does not come on. I was told that even though the new board was slightly different it would work on this model. Left it run for several hours, the freezer went to 20 degrees then got warm like in a defrost cycle but no fan. The food section is not as cool as it should be, most likly do to no fan operation. Is there a problem with the new board or some jumper or other mod that should be made.

Would not defrost. Found the defrost heating element was burn out. I replaced the element. Defrost cylce worked OK but then after a few days it would not cool. The evap fan always worked fine until I replaced the mother board yesterday.

If the evaporator motor failed to run and you replaced the motherboard without replacing the evaporator motor, your new motherboard driver has blown out. GE has used cheap drivers that ensure this!!

The evaporater fan was not bad, it worked fine prior to installing the new motherboard. It did not work on initial start up with the new mother board. There were a couple steps in the installation paperwork for the mother board that said to cut a wire, but only on bottom freezers and certain models, but did not apply to my modle.

If the motor works with the old motherboard, your new motherboard is bad, unless you somehow disconnected the motor.

Changed back to original motherboard and fan works good. Also with new board the compressor does not shut down when you turn temp controls to off. With the original board the compressor shuts off and also cycles on or off as required. With the new board it seems to run continously.

I'm having a similar issue with a very similar model. Main difference was my evaporator thermistor was also faulty which I've now replaced. So I have new evaporator thermistor, heater and main board. The other thermistors all tested within acceptable range. The evaporator thermostat is also faulty and I'm waiting on it to arrive, but my understanding is that it shouldn't alter normal functioning of the fridge - it's a emergency failsafe thing if other parts fail.

Symptoms I have (with the new board) are; evaporator fan not coming back on after defrost (at least 35 mins instead of the expected 10 mins before it starts up again), the evaporator fan doesn't stop when the doors are opened (I've found people have corrected this after a board change with a reset key sequence on the digital/button models, but mine has the knobs so I can't do it), damper door closes more often than stays open which doesn't cool the fresh food side enough.

Did you happen to get a solution using the new board at all???

What is the factory part # of the new board and did the cardboard box have the original factory tape on it undisturbed?
