I have a new compressor and the Spec sheet said that it needs 9.47oz of oil. No where on it does it say if the unit was shipped full or not. How do you check.

You have to be a EPA & Whirlpool athorized tech to check the compressor system if it is less than a year old. What is you frig doing?

The compressor locked up and I just got in a new one and it doesn't feel like there is any oil in it. Does all manf. put the right amount in before shipping.
Thanks

Yes the oil is in the compressor, but not the freon. But you still have to be EPA certified to break the sealed system on the refrigerator. It's a hefty fine without the certification. How old is the frig?

Thanks Nat. This is the first I have evergotten that had a spec. sheet listing the oil. The ref. is about 10 years old and this is the second compressor put in it. The first one went to knocking when it was two years old.

Thanks and have nice weekend
