If I turn off the extra rinse the water stops. That is a easy solution. No more overflow. Also on the same bank of switches is the auto temp control. This is also not working. Is it the switch? Or is there something farther up the chain like the control board that is actually the problem. The switches are pretty simple mechanical parts They work or they don't. Since the auto temp control is not working and the extra rinse switch is holding valve open, I think it has more to do with the control board. Any advice would be helpful.

When you have electronics in a machine everything and anything is possible.

I would start by replacing the ATC board, it is not expensive and not difficult to do.
