Whirlpool Dryer GEW9868KQ0 is stuck in 20 min 'touch up' mode with med high heat. If I try to select high heat it reverts back to med high heat. The 'towels & cotton' will beep if pushed, but does not change any of the settings. Dryer remains at 20 min 'touch up'. No other buttons work or beep. No error message. Initially could dry clothes repeating the 20 min cycle, but now it will stop working after one cycle of the 20 min. If I keep it plugged in it continues to beep. If I unplug it, after awhile it will again work for one 20 min cycle.
Thanks for any help. Bob

Bob,

Open the control panel. Remove the connectors P3 and P4 from the electronic control board. Measure the resistance across the P3-12 and P3-9 with the "+" lead connected to the P3-12 and the "-" lead connected to the P3-9 while the "Touch up" pad is not pressed and is pressed. Post the results and what kind (analog or digital) of meter did you use.

Gene,
I guess I'm hitting the wrong 'reply' button as my responses aren't showing up. So, I'll try again. Using a digital meter and following your instructions the readings are: .374 not pressed, and .352 pressed. Thanks.
Bob

Bob,

Looks like the pad is shorted. The correction is to replace the console panel.

- The console panel (Pearl) Part number: AP3083189
Part number: AP3083189
