My Kenmore side by side suddenly stopped freezing. I also notice loud clicking sound that occurs almost every 15-30 seconds. It sounds like a relay or a contact opening and closing.

I took off the front and rear access panels (not much access, only about a six inch opening) and felt the compressor. It is too hot to touch.

The other strange thing is that the center of the door frame (the horizontal piece that both doors close against) was also very warm.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

If you're hearing the 'clicks' then most likely it needs a new 'overload/relay' kit. Match your model number; get the part and while you're at it, get a new 'run capacitor' too just in case. This could be the most economical approach as to reviving your fridge back to new again - or at least to its working state.
