my wife says when the refrigerator is open and it maked the sound it is coming from the lower section of the refrierator towards the back. She also told me this refrigarator has a chilling and defrost bin in the bottom storage bin. You can chill a wine bottle or defrost meat or set it for refrigarating meat or produce.
I didnt know about these features in case this helps trouble shoot.

I am still out of town at work and cannot start on it yet, it's a built in refridgerator.

Thanks Mike

If it is the low side tubing rattling, eventually it will possibly case a seal leak. If you can remove the evaporator cover, you could find the source easily. One solution is firming the compressor mounts, this might stop the rattle.

Ok, I have pulled the lower bin out and pressed the button that activates the chill feature .

I can see a black door on the left side wall towards the back, bottom rear that opens when I press the botton, as it raises open ( like an older garage door) it seems to continue for a few seconds making that machine gun noise, like the motor is trying to or is stuck in the open position longer than it needs to.

I think this is causing the gears or teeth to click like a machine gun.

Any Ideas On the fix or what to replace?

Mike

Shine a light in there, you might find ice partially jamming the door, or some other damage causing the door to jam.

Ok, I practically had to take the lower half of the inside of the refrigerator out to get to the climate control unit.
I found that their are two doors that opens and close to allow cold air in from the freezer to the lower climate controlled bin, The doors are controlled by a thermostat located at the back of the climate control bin area. The two doors are stacked one above the other on the left side of the box. The upper door was making all the machine gun noise and when I took it out I can see the plastic motor housing is cracked on the top at the door hinge.

The part reads Sankyo NTPB001RA1

Hopefully Appliance parts pro has the part

Thanks for all your help and suggestions, Mike
