Most likely the problem is a bad motor. You can run a simple test to confirm it. Open the door. Push and hold the door switch, push the start button and while holding this button "on", manually turn the drum. If it will start then no doubt the motor is bad. - The part number for the motor is AP3094245 Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dryer Model LE6880XTW1Gene.

 Ok so my dryer would make a buzzing sound and the light would come on but the dryer wouldn't, thinking ok it's time for a NEW dryer we went to Lowes an purchased a Maytag BRAND NEW, Great I'm ready to get caught up on some laundry that is way over due. My husband and a friend put the dryer in plug it up and AGAIN, buzzing sound is working GREAT however MY NEW dryer is still NOT WORKING! They checked to make sure only 240 volts were coming threw and of course 120 on each side, sure enough it's all correct! Any help at all out here? I read previous situations like this HOWEVER my dryer is NEW......Ggg-rrrrrrrr Aggervation is what it's beginning to be....CAN ANYONE HELP US?
