Control Switch - Linkage - Control Actuator Issue

I have a Maytag LDE712 Series 03 serial no. 205300VA. For many years the dryer would not stop running and this was attributed to the "linkage" breaking which held the solonoid and chime actuator assembly to the control switch. While I never knew exactly how the chime actuator was supposed to be situated connecting a new "linkage" (looks like extended paper clip) seemed to fix the problem for approximately 1 year. Each year the linkage would break and I would replace it. Now what the linkage connected to on the control switch broke and its not clear if this little plastic piece requires replacing the entire control switch. Since Im probably going to need to do this I was also wondering if at this time I should replace something else to prevent the linkage from breaking or if some sort of lubricant should be applied to the solonoid rod/pin. Finally the actuator assembly I have is only a piece of plastic but the pictures on this site seem to have a weight at the bottom of the plastic and wondered if this might cause issues if I dont have the weight holding it vertical. Any info or assistance is greatly appreciated. Phil Devinsky phil.devinsky@gmail.com
