I am trying to replace the timer unit in the control panel. I have the panel off but cannot get the timer knob off the timer shaft. It does not pull straight off, and you can turn it endlessly in a clockwise motion so that does not work.
At the end of the shaft (on the new timer) there are 2 "ears" that point right and left and there is a 1/16" gap in the middle of the shaft....do I have to pinch the shaft with needle nose pliers and pullthe knobmaybe? Can some one help?

There should be a black button on the back of the timer. Use a small screwdriver to pull that away, and it should come right off. Edit, cancel that I went and checked and it was a different timer than I was thinking it was.
