Problem: Excessive frost buildup requiring weekly defrost Main areas of frost build-up are at the ceiling and the underside of the top shelf, along with the process tube. There is no frost buildup under the middle (or the bottom) shelf. Can this be repaired or do I retire the freezer and purchase another one?

Measure the freezer temperature on the back wall and post. It should be below5 degrees or better for a freezer. If below 5 degrees, you probably just have a bad door gasket, if well above that, you have a refrigerant leak a bad compressor, or bad defrost system component.
