How do I remove the top half of the agitator? I removed the bolt going to the spindle. and took the whole agitator out. Now I need to remove the top half so that I can change out the dog ears that are worn out? How does it come apart? don't want to break the parts I've removed?

Well, believe it or not the thing pulls apart. Your problem is that gunk from fabric softener, dirt, detergent and whatever has gotten in their. You have several choices. You can exert a lot of force and try to pull it apart, or you can soak it in a bucket of very hot water for as long as it take to loosen up.

Click on your model number to go to exploded views of your machine and you can see if you have the right parts. You can also see what the agitator looks like.

Thanks, I did run HOT water over and into the complete assembly... the 4 little tabs on the top that hold the bottom and top together where the DOGS are located softened up enough to pop the two pieces loose. I was able to make the repair... changed the DOGS and the washer is now working like NEW.... Thanks for the advise ..... it did help...
