We've got a Magic Chef clothes washer that is at least 18 years old. It works fine except for a very loud bearing-type noise during the spin cycle. I don't hear it during other cycles. I was looking at the exploded parts views and trying to figure out what bearing or item may be causing the problem? I would like to have parts on hand and know what I am going after before I take this thing apart. Any ideas? Anything I can diagnose before pulling the whole thing apart?

Thanks! Jack, Based on your description, I'd have to think you have a worn out spin bearing Unfortunately, numerous parts have been discontinued for your machine, and you'll have to replace and repair parts as individual pieces. Part number: AP4045050
spin bearing Part number: AP416011
bearing and seal hub kit I don't think you can repair the unit properly and safely without the parts, Unless you can find the parts on an obsolete or antique parts web sight, or a local service or parts distributor has access to them, you may have to consider a new washing machine. It looks like the spin bearing alone is available through you still but the bearing and seal hub kit are discontinued. Does the bearing "kit" come with that same bearing that is still available separatey, or are there entirely different parts in that kit? Is it possible to get by with just replacing the bearing that is still available? Where in the exploded views do the parts go? Thanks again and Happy New Year!

Jack, Depending on which revision letter you have, you should be replacing Rev A thru D, parts 33 down to part 23, Rev E thru H, parts 33 down to part 23, Rev J thru N, parts 5 down to part 11, In the parts diagram(s)on our web page, To insure a leak free, and proper repair. There is also a spanner wrench you should have to do the repair, but you can get by with a pipe wrench and hammer, if you're carefull. That's why I supplied the "kit" part number(s) to make it a bit easier for you. The following part number, will have the majority of the parts I'd reccomend you use, and it sounds as if you'd be able to do the repair with a little silicone sealer and some initiative(or you could order the other individual parts, if available). * click on part number for additional information * Part number: AP4025154

Thanks again Joe,
I have Rev-C and am looking at the transmission exploded view. I see which parts you are talking about. It appears that the spin bearing would come in the last part number that you gave me (AP4025154) and is installed in the white housing in the right side of the photo?
I think I'm going to give it a try. Any tips or helpful info on how to disassemble the washer to get to these parts? I'm guessing the agitator must be removed as well as the transmission assy?

Thanks again Jack, Yes, The kit is as you described, and will have most of the "important" parts you'll need. You will have to remove the agitator, and the tubs, all the way down to the tub support arms, but not the transmission. It'll be awkward and frustrating(it was for me) but do able, with some time and patience. You'll do fine. Drop us a line if you need more assistance or information. Good Luck, Happy New Year :) :) :)
