Hi everybody, this is my first post. I have a 20+ year old Kenmore freezer. It has been working great until yesterday. I started hearing a clicking noise coming from it. I pulled it away from the wall and the clicking noise was coming from a relay attached to the compressor. The compressor was very hot, about 165 degrees and was not running. I unplugged the freezer and let it sit for about 2 hours. The compressor cooled down so I plugged it back in and the compressor fired up and it started running. I let it run for quite some time but it never shut off. I checked the temp inside the freezer and it was about 4 degrees. The compressor was very hot again. I turned the thermostat down but it still didn’t shut off. I turned it all the way off and it finally stopped running. It seems as though the thermostat has stopped working. Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

Thanks - CujoK

Sounds like your thermostat(temp control is bad) would suggest replacing that part. It is normal for the compressor to be really warm.
