Have a Viking VDSC307 dual fuel range with an electric oven. When I turn the oven on, I hear some electric arcing/sparking in the back and smoke rise through the back vent on the right side. Smoke smells like burning hair. Any thoughts? Thanks in advanced!

This may sound strange but you might want to check for a mouse that bit into a wire and shorted it out. Mice can get into some strange places.

Just checked. No mouse (the wife was happy to hear that, but I wasn't $$$$). Unfortunatley, its a burnt wire connection at the terminal block. Looks like the wires were bent enough to cause the top terminal in the plug to make poor contact which ultimately led to arcing and a burnt wire/plug. I assuming it is very difficult to purchase new wiring harnesses.

A new harness would be a pain in the you know what (basically a complete tear down), but a terminal block isn't that bad......as long as you can find the parts.

I mentioned the mouse because we had a service call one time that was at our chiropractors house, and a mouse had gotten into the wires on their range. His wife wasn't happy either.....of course she wanted a new one ;) so she was disappointed and discusted at the same time.
