Joe,

I am having the same issue downloading the J/A Slide in Range Service Manual. This thread is my issue as well. I actually heard a pop when the front right burner went out of service. I was thinking element, but might try the Infinite switch first as dan did. The "heat light" is on as well.

Thanks for any help!

Glen,

It's been my experience, that most of the burner element problems are due to the infinite switch, and not the element itself (95% of the time).

The "custom control" switch on this style unit was it's "weak link"
(over engineered in my opinion) but when it works, it works great .

Presuming you have the same model number , here's the switch part number,

Part number: AP4369619
Part number: AP4369619

And an excerpt from the service manual on removal and repair procedures.

(You may want to see Danpan's post on the repair forum)

Good Luck,

Control Panel Assembly Removal

1. Remove power from unit.
2. Remove burner switch control knobs.
3. Remove front screws securing control panel to
chassis.
4. Remove screws located on the left and right sides of
the control panel.
5. Grasp control panel on the far left and right sides and
gently pull the control panel out and down.

NOTE: The electronic control located in the control
panel is a sensitive item, handle gently.
6. Label and disconnect wire terminals.
7. Remove infinite switch control knobs, infinite
switches, indicator lights, rocker switches, and

electronic control/clock (as necessary) and transfer to
the new control panel
8. Reverse procedure to reinstall control panel

Joe...Thanks for the quick response and yes I read Dans post. (Thank-you as well Dan for taking the time to post your steps.) Are the front screws which are mentioned above actually the 1/4" hex screws the are underneath the control panel that Dan references?

Thanks...Glen

P.S. Just placed my order for the switch and will definitely be mentioning this site to a few of my friends. Great place you've got here!

Scraper,

Yes, the control panel bottom screws are along the panel bottom, when you open the oven door.

You'll also have one screw on each side of the panel, you'll need to slide the range out a few inches to access thiose.

Thanks for the compliments,

We are really trying to do as much as we can, to help.

:) :) :)

George,

What do you mean by "the LEDs stay lit" ?

One LED,which burner, all LEDs ,etc.

We are discussing a JES9900Ba@ model number , correct ?

Thanks,

:) :) :)

Joe...I led him to this thread from this thread. http://forum.appliancepartspros...dicator-light-stays.html

I believe the Maytag is the same as Jenn-Aire. Sorry if I am wrong.

George,

We're dealing with a different animal.

Your range is a Slide in Range, and not quite as elaborate as the JES9900.

I'm going to take a guess, and suggest that it's the "hot surface" light staying on(up on the cooking area, not the control panel light) which would indicate a bad sensor on one of the burner element, most likely, or a shorted circuit in one of the burner switches.

Can you get me a better description of the problem, and get your hands on a multi meter, so we can get you up and working proper.

:) :) :)

Glen,
Yes, on my JES9900BAS I used a 1/4 inch socket to take the 4 hex screws off. As Joe M mentioned, you need to open the oven door to be able to see the 4 screws. Take your time and you will most likely find it not to be a tough job.

Good luck,
Dan
