Hi, im new to the forum. I just bought a new house and im putting in an older dryer. I need to change the power cord from a 3 prong to a 4 prong. on the new 4 prong cord the wire colors are black, red, blue, and green. I know to remove the bonding jumper and connect the green ground wire to the dryer frame. but then Im stuck. they say to match the colors but the colors on my dryer are black, white and light blue.
Can you help me to match the new wires to the dryer colors?

The normal is Black = L1 Red = L2 White = Neutral Green = Earth Ground At the dryer end if the terminal strip is a bar the center connection is usually Neutral. Neutral will be the connector that had the ground strap going to the machine's frame. Perhaps they are using blue on the line cord as the Neutral but I would check this out first with a meter. This is very confusing because often when you get inside a machine Black L1 becomes a Blue.
