Hi Gene,
I have a Hotpoint Gas Range Model # RGB746HED3WH, that just won't behave! The temperature is unstable at best and the oven does not heat up to the temperature indicated on the control knob. Then sometimes it just cools on it's own in the middle of one of my wifes projects and , well you know how that goes...when momma isn't happy , nobody's happy!
When I check the resistance of the oven temperature sensor I get 1052 Ohms at room temperature. I disassembled the floor of the oven today and watched the igniter and gas burner tube and they seemed to light fine. I cleaned the burner tube just to be sure and the gas flows evenly and ignites and seems to burn fine.
I figure it's got to be that temperature sensor gets a little haywire when it heats up, but I was wondering, does the control know have some temperature adjustment or is there a thermostat in the oven other than that sensor feeding back to the control panel? I am sort of baffeled, because if the control knob is working properly ( any way to check that?) then it's has to be that sensor... but then what do I know. That's why I'm asking you. Any help would be much appreciated. Christmas is here and a house full of family and friends and an oven that wont cooperate just don't Gee Haw!
Any help will be much appreciated.
