Thanks for your considered post. In the end, I just wasn't comfortable working with the live wires and had our local utility repairman do the job. Indeed it was a faulty igniter, and a very easy fix. Ran me $160 :(

I also frequently hear a very low-pitched, rather rapidly pulsed sound while the oven is on. It works okay at lower temperatures, and my oven thermometer shows that it is actually achieving the temperature that the oven says it has reached.

Not sure how to troubleshoot this.

Also, the warming drawer trips the circuit breaker any time I try to use it. It worked when we first got the oven but it has been years since I've been able to use it. Not a big deal, but I thought I'd mention it while I'm here.

I am getting error code F2, during normal cooking time. I then have to shut the oven off, check the self cleaning handle to make sure it's un-locked completely, open the pven and let it cool a minute or two and THEN I can continue to bake whatever. It's a mystery why this happens, but if anyone can help me resolve the issue, I'd sure appreciate it. I quoted Mary McK because the symptoms seem related. Thank you for your help.

The model is

Yesterday baking a pie, I had to restart several times. Baking salmon, not once.

Hi.

The F2 code refers to the over temperature sensed by the control board.

Check the resistance of the oven sensor. At the room temperature it should be around 1100 ohm.

If it's different - replace the sensor

Part number: WB21X5301
Part number: WB21X5301

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for General Electric JGBP26BEA1AD Gas range | AppliancePartsPros.com

Thank you. Post the results.
