Hello!
My problem is that my Whirlpool dw has a problem overfilling at the moment you start the cycle. I've removed the access panel at the bottom of the dishwasher and determined the following:
The water starts under the sink where a cooper hose runs from the hot water to a small plastic box at the front right side of the dw. This plastic box has two brown wires connected to it. From this plastic box, a black rubber hose runs up the left side of the washer and connects to half inch hole that can be seen from the inside of the washer. When a cycle is started, water drains through this hole into the washer and after a minute of running, the dw over fills onto the floor.
NOTE: Just around the rim of this small hole, there seems to be evidence that something was covering this hole up at one time.
Do you have any thoughts?

The will contine to poor into the dishwasher even if you shut the cycle off. An the dishwasher will do it's best to drain the water. But the water will not stop flowing into the washer. The only solution is to shut the hot water off at the sink.

I cannot find any info on the given model number.
Please check it. It does not look like a Whirlpool number.
Sounds like the water inlet valve (the plastic box) is shot. |

The model number is DU920PFGG0. Even with the water turned off under the sink, the dishwasher fills every 2 hours and has to be drained. When the water is turned on under the sink, it fills with water in minutes. Both hot and cold water must be turned off. Thanks, denman for your suggestion; I will look into it. I took of picture of the water filling the dishwasher; will attach. missmelllie attached the following image(s):

Here is the parts breakdown, I used GQ0. Water valve is Item 16 in Section 3 Part number: AP3120539
Click on the picture for more views and info. Something is very strange as I have never seen a dishwasher hooked up to the hot and cold water lines. Should be hooked to the hot only so I cannot explain why you have to turn off the cold. |

thanks for the parts breakdown - wow. just what I needed to know. All Greek to me, but have s-i-l to help install.
He looked under the sink and said only the hot is connected, but the thing fills up with cold water, even with both turned off as far as I can turn them off. Thanks again.
