I also had the experience with the Kitchen Aid double oven. It failed to complete a self cleaning cycle and totally went dead with the door locked.
I have since replaced the thermal fuses on the back of the oven, which were tested and known to be bad, but that did not resolve the issue.
After inquiring and getting advice on line, I sent my "dead" control panel to a company in Ontario Canada to be tested and or repaired / replaced. Turns out the control panle powered up just fine for them, so they advised that it was probably one of two transformers that send power to the control panel.
I have now replaced both transformers and yet the panel still will not power up. We did notice some soot and black areas on the metal and the wiring near the larger of the two transformers, also the cheaper of the two - WPL 9760589 which made us feel like we were on the right track.
The equipment that I have is limited, but there is power to the oven, power all over the top of the oven and into the back of the control panel, but it is just dead, dead, dead.
Almost seems like we need a reset or a cntrl, alt, delete to get that thin reset as it does not seem to want to do anything.
ANy additional throughts or ideas would be appreciated. We are now past three months in dealing with this (second home) but also have about $600 invested at this point, only to be right where we were the weekend before Labor Day. Wife is anxious to just go buy a replacement with Christmas right around the corner, but seems like it should be that tough to get this crazy thing working.
Thanks
Gary
