Our washer needs help starting to spin and doesn't spin at its usual speed. sometimes it does start on its own but runs out of time before it gets spinning very well. Is it worth fixing?

Probably a bad clutch and bad brake shoes. I would shine a light in the tub, remove the outer cabinet, and look for something stuck in the tub.
