I am having an issue with my icemaker where it overfills and water runs into the ice bin and then out of the ice chute and onto my kitchen floor.

I'm trying to determine if it's an issue with the water supply valve sticking or if it's an issue with whatever calls the water valve to turn on to fill the ice tray.

Any troubleshooting assistance or advice on which part to replace would be greatly appreciated.

If you haven't already done this, I would recommend you watch a water fill. It should fill for five to seven seconds. Also, notice the size of the ice being formed. Is it smaller than normal?

It is possible that the water valve is leaking; but we also want to rule out the icemaker: An older icemaker may have a build-up of scale or corrosion that will wick the water right over the edge of the mold. The most convincing evidence of this (beside the ice in the bin) is small or no icecubes being harvested.
