Clothes are getting stuck between the drum and front panel and it burns or turns them black. I can tell the drum has slack because it will move up and down about a half inch in the front. What can I do please?

Probably the glides(slides) and upper bearing. without looking at a breakdown of parts. That would be my guess.

The upper is AP3156144
lower is AP2043044
It's best to change both of them.
