Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 11/29/2010(UTC) Posts: 1		I have a whirlpool dryer that would not heat up for the drying cycle. I have purchased the thermostat and heating element. I have three wires to connect to the new element and thermostat and four items that should have wires. The heating element has two places for wires to connect to and the thermostat has two wires to plug in to. I have one extra plug in for the heating element than wires provided. Is it ok to have one of the element's plug in left empty?

They're easy to identify: they're the largest wires in the cabinet, and usually red (or red with a black stripe). The thermostat will also have two wires (or four, if it's the cycling thermostat). Look and see if one of the wires got tucked away, hidden behind a component.
