Any error codes with the failing to complete spin cycle? I’m an owner like you and know the machine fairly well. I have a number of support postings on this site and four other appliance DIY forums for the FAV6800A and FAV9800A TL's. If the machine is banging around while it is trying spin up and failing with unbalance error codes such as DC or UC. Than 99.9% of the time this is a clutch malfunction and can be fixed by the average DIY owner. See this post Maytag Neptune load unbalance. If there are no error codes and the machine is stalling to spin up there could be issues such as Outer Tub bearings failing. If you want to have it repaired/get an estimate for repair that’s going to cost you a service call. You could call Maytag at 1-888-462-9824. Have your model number and serial number ready for them. The serial number is located on the back top right side of the console as you face the machine. If you decide to diy the fix shout back and I will help. A cheap fix if the issue is what I think it is would be to replace the Clutch Pulley for around $75 + shipping from this site. Or a no cost fix as in this post Maytag Neptune load unbalance . If the issue is related to Outer Tub bearings it's a bigger DIY job but can be done if you can tolerate the down time and have a desire to save the machine. Good Luck………Dick
