My refrigerator/front door water/ice dispenser has not been working properly.
The water will dispense at times, and other times nothing will come out.
The Ice dispenser, and crushed ice dispenser does not work at all.
There is a little noise (only for a split second) when I click on crushed ice. But again, nothing comes out. The auger does not rotate.
Ice is being made, and I changed my filter about 3 weeks ago.
The lights illuminate on the face of the electronic dispenser face.

Thank You,

Dave

Dave,

Would the lights on the dispenser panel dim when you push any release lever?

Gene (or anyone else who can help with this problem),

My lights do not dim when I press on the lever.

The lights work fine.

Actually, for the past several days, I am able to dispense water, but still no ice (crushed or cubed).

It continues to make ice.
But no dispensing.

What do you think it is?

Remove the ice bucket. Remove the wires from the auger motor, tape the light switch in and check for 120 VAC to the auger motor while the ice release on the door is pushed in. Post the results.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Ice maker & dispenser replacement parts for General Electric GSC23KSTESS Refrigerator | AppliancePartsPros.com

Gene.....i have a similar problem. when the dispenser started to act up, the lights will dim and nothing gets dispensed. Now the dispenser completely will not work. replaced with a new one together with a new motherboard and still does not work.
What else could be wrong?

What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?

What are the part numbers of the new parts?

The model # is GE PSS26SHRE-SS.
motherboard is AP4436216.
dispenser board is AP3202258.

I'm thinking of replacing the water valve assy.
i tried playing with it by removing the tubes that supply the ice maker and dispenser system.
Water spurted out the ice maker valve side but not on the other one.

Gene...........thanks for all your advise. However none of them was the problem.

somehow i came across a connector under the fridge when i started to trace the tubing. it is right in front just behind the grill. There is a blue, red and white wire and after doing some pull test, the white wire just came apart. Looked like it was burned. Now i know why the light would come on and die once you press the dispenser. this wire probably passes a lot of voltage. should be a GE quality issue.
Reconnected it properly and BINGO - dispenser now works beautifully.

You are welcome. I'm glad you were able to find and fix the problem. Good job!
