I was going to bake some cookies when I turned my oven on to preheat. When I went to put the cookies in the oven it was still cold. At first I freaked thinking about the gas, but when I smelled and listened for gas, there was none... there is no glow where the broiler is. It simply is just there silent and cold. The stove top still works fine. When I looked up about my oven my thoughts were either the igniter switch or the safety but am not sure what would be responsible for the no gas and the oven not working. I ordered the igniter switch--part 19 on the oven parts diagram but I wanted to know if someone could help guide me. Am i going in the right direction? Cant afford a new oven at moment and would greatly appreciate the help.:o

ignitor is a good guess turn on the broil and see if it works if it works then you will pretty much rule out anything else i replace a lot of ignitors one thing to remember is when replacing try not to touch the new ignitor with your fingers as this can cause pre mature failure with new ignitor
