My Bosch DW is running completely through the cycle, but is not cleaning properly. The dispenser is open at the end of the cycle, but there is detergent left in it and there is detergent on the inside of the door and on any silverware positioned under the dispenser. I have tried powder and liquid.
Warranty ran out on Aug 10th, but I got the call in on the 7th. Repair guy came out yesterday and told my wife he could find nothing wrong. Told her to run the hot water in the sink before starting the cycle and that would solve the problem because my HW heater was at the opposite end of the house. I knew that was bogus because it worked fine all winter without warming up the water. I tried it anyway and had the same result.
I called Bosch this morning and they were no help. Guy on the phone was reading the owners manual. They said they would contact the repairman, but I'm not optimisitic.
Any Ideas? We loved this DW until a couple of weeks ago. Thanks in advance.

The first thing I would do is check all filters and screens inside the dishwasher. Check if there is enough water. It suppose to be at the upper edge of the filter basket. Post your findings. Here are the break down diagrams for the Bosch dishwasher Model SHX46A05 UC/14 (FD 8211-)Gene.

You can also dump a gallon of extra water in and see if it now works normally with heavy amount of spraying water. If ok, I time the water fill period. If more than 40 seconds water fill, and the water level is too low for normal operation, I look for a partially clogged water valve screen. If too short, I suspect a bad electronic module.

I checked all filter and screens and they are clean. I spoke with the repairman this morning and he said he checked the water levels and that everything was spraying as it should (I'll double check tonight). I asked him was it possible that the detergent dispenser was opening too late in the cycle. He said it was possible and that he would order a computer (electronics module I suppose) and inlet valve under warranty. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

I did a test checking every five minutes. The water level is 1/4-3/8 inch below the top of the filter basket. The detergent dispenser opened between 20 and 25 minutes after the start of the cycle. Water temp at the sink is 150 degrees. I will try adding the extra gallon of water later. Can I add it at the beginning of the cycle? Thanks

I tried all the suggestions above and everything seems to be normal, but I think I have figured out the problem. I tripped the door latch mechanism so I could watch it run with the door open. The lower arm was putting out a significant amount of water. The top arm didn't have enough pressure to make it spin. It looks like one end of the top arm is intended to flush out the detergent dispenser, which would explain why detergent is left in the dispenser. Any ideas why the top arm wouldn't be getting sufficient pressure? After the cycle finishes and it cools I'll check it out.

If water does not spray from upper spray arms, check the feed tube ( AP2802419) where it enters the sump. Occasionally, the joint between the feed tube and its base can loosen. In such case the entire feed tube must be replaced. Gene.
