Does not turn off in any cycle. When put on timed cycle, the timer will move but only goes to just past the 10 minute mark then stalls and they dryer just keeps running. I tried in other cycles, and the timer didn't seem to move at all.

Check the thermal fuse first.

Dryer does not heat, timer knob does not move. Cleaned everything and checked house fuses. Not problem. Flame only comes on if gas is shut off then turned back on. If you open door and restart flame does not come on.

Gene,
Replaced the Thermal Fuse and the Cycling Thermastat just like you said and the dryer works like new! :) It was very easy too. Wonderful to be able to get it working again and save some $$$ in the process.
This site and the technical support that is provided is great!
Thank you so very much for all your help. You really do provide a wonderful service!

Most likely the problem is a bad gas valve coils.

I am kinda having same issue. I have replaced the coils already. My gas dryer whirlpool model # lgr8648pw0. This is what is going on. When you first start the dryer it glows and ignites just fine, after this intial lighting it glows but does not ignite. I watched it for about 10 minutes and never re ignites. So as stated in many post replace the coils and I should be good. Well I did and still same issue. I am at my wits end and do not know which direction to go. I also read about your testing but unsure how to test my model and specs it should be. Also not very good with a ohm reader. If you could explain a little extra for me much appreciated. I will be awaiting your reply. Thank you

Most likely the problem is a bad flame sensor but there is a small chance for the gas valve to be bad as well.

Ok Gene,
I replaced the flame senor and still the same. Let me give you some more infor on the problem. When dryer started not to heat, I checked for clogged air way and noticed vent tube was completely clogged (do not know how long it was clogged) I cleared out. Still dryer would not heat all the time. I have then replaced the coils and the flame sensor. Upon intial start after dryer has been sitting flame will ignite, then upon second ignite it will act like it is going to flame and go but goes out within 2 seconds, from there on out for about 10 minutes glow but no flame. In previous reply from you, you said it might be the gas valve. I wanted to make sure to give more information before buying a 100 dollar part. I was wondering since it has overheated most likely when it was clogged if a thermostat or thermal fuse could cause it not to ignite? I will be waiting for reply and thank you for your assistance on this situation.
